Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
I work within the finance function, supporting the business by providing clear insight into cost performance and drivers. On a day to day basis, this involves analysing financial information, producing regular reporting and commentary, supporting forecasting and budgeting activities, and working closely with stakeholders to explain movements and identify opportunities for improvement. A key part of my role is also focused on improving processes and controls, including documenting processes and exploring automation where appropriate, to make reporting more efficient and reliable.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I enjoy the programme to a large extent. It is a leadership apprenticeship delivered in partnership with Henley Business School, designed to develop strategic thinking, leadership capability, and practical application in role. The programme combines academic learning with work based projects, encouraging reflection on real business challenges and how leadership behaviours translate into day to day decision making. I find it particularly valuable because the learning is directly applicable to my role and supports both my professional development and impact at work and exposes me to senior leaders.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
Yes, I have developed both new and existing skills through the programme. In particular, I have strengthened my strategic thinking, leadership and influencing skills, and my ability to analyse complex problems from a broader organisational perspective. I have also developed greater confidence in applying academic frameworks to real business challenges, reflecting on my leadership style, and translating learning into practical actions in my day to day role.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
The programme is well structured and clearly organised, but it is very time pressured. Balancing full‑time work alongside the academic demands, particularly the essays, can be challenging however, the structure, clear milestones and relevance of the learning help make it manageable and worthwhile.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
I receive a good level of support from my employer. My line manager is supportive of the programme, allows flexibility where possible, and recognises the time commitment required alongside day to day work.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
I receive a good level of support from the training provider. There is access to tutors and learning coaches, clear guidance on assignments and expectations, and regular check ins throughout the programme.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
The qualification supports me well in performing my role more effectively. The learning helps me think more strategically, approach problems with greater structure, and reflect on how my leadership behaviours influence outcomes.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
There are occasional networking events but there are ad hoc usually during group results
