Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
The placements are hit or miss but fortunately I have been quite lucky with the ones I were given. I like being on-site and getting to speak to different members in the business. University is not great in a sense of lecturers and the presentations they use.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I enjoy work when placements are busy and there is a lot to contribute to. I do not enjoy the university aspect. Lecturers just read off of the powerpoint and do not seem to teach very well. Ofcourse, this is my perspective with the lecturers that I have been given so far, but it is a pretty communal opinion in a sense of university is not great.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have learned a lot of new skills and have gained so much new knowledge. I feel I am more confident in my communication and presentation skills, and I now enjoy running and leading my own meetings.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
There have been times where early careers seem to still be figuring things out - such as different skills coaches telling us different times to put for our OTJ for university, or the placement matrix being delayed.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
Support is excellent as an apprentice at BAE. Skills coaches are readily available to give any aid or advice with work.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
Skills coaches do a great job in providing support for Level 4. University not so much.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
I don't think it makes too much of a difference
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
There are extra-curricular activities available for us, especially social activities and professional events.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend BAE Systems to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Although of it's flaws, it has developed me greatly and I definitely do not regret joining the apprenticeship. It is a great company which provides excellent benefits to its employees.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BAE Systems?
Focus on the BAE behaviours during interviews and be confident in yourself. It is not all about academic success, but more of who you are and who you can develop into at the company.
