Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
Booking in Zoladex samples into an online system used in the lab. Occasionally shadowing sterility and bioburden (tablet) testing, as well as completing lab jobs such as plate and sterility duran reads.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
I have been given the responsibility of booking in samples and setting up sterility tolleys, ready for senior members of staff to test.

Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
Yes, I have learnt many new skills, such as how to work new online software's like eLab, Kanbanize and GLIMs. I have also picked up more practical techniques, alongside developing on techniques I already learnt during my university course.

Support and Guidance
How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
I have received a lot of support, everyone on my team is very helpful and open to me shadowing them, with a few of them being pro active and actively asking me if I would like to shadow them. My manager is great too, I have monthly check ins with him about what I have been doing and what I would like to learn.

What advice would you give to others applying to AstraZeneca
Apply as soon as you can as interviews and assessments need to be conducted, as well as health and background checks which take 3-4 weeks. Also, keep asking members of your team if you can shadow them, don't sit back and wait for them to come to you.
