Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
My role is in a customer engineering team. We can help with if customers need information on engines. Sometimes we can go and do testing on new engines if that is needed. My role includes a lot of communication with different people around the UK and world, and can include going on site to help with troubleshooting or maintenance.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I enjoy my programme a lot. It's a good combination of being in the office/working remotely/on site, and I feel very supported in my job.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
Everything to do with the job has improved. Mainly technical knowledge (electrical and mechanical aspects), but soft skills like presentation technique and email writing have also improved.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
I think it's well organised. I get enough time to do uni work and get time to develop in terms of work as well.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I get supported well in my job. My manager helps whenever possible, the rest of the team also have wealths of knowledge and suggest ways for my development which helps a lot.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
I receive decent support from Warwick, they've put in regular meetings with my tutor to talk about any issues I may have. Only issue is they can take time to reply on emails at times.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
As time goes on and the topics of the degree get more specialised, I think the qualification will tie more into the job. But as of now only some of the topics align, some of them are mainly unrelated. Since I'm only in the first year I expect this will change though.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
There are some networking events, there is a social committee that puts on somewhat regular events to get to know other people who work in the office. If I didn't live so far away I'd attend more often but the effort can definitely be seen.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Cummins to a friend?
Yes
Why?
It's a good place to work. It's a big company so there's lots of room for development and growing. I feel well supported in my job, there are good people around that have vast amounts of knowledge they're willing to share. It's a good place to be, especially if you're in the office or shop floor.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Cummins?
