Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

looking at technical drawings, completing engineering assessments, product and test equipment analysis, making and correcting official documentation, prototyping test equipment, supporting legacy test equipment
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

i enjoy it massively, my placement in the role means that i get interesting tasks, and extremely varied in the process and outcome. everyday brings new challenges for me, and the colleagues that i get to work with are varied in personality, but overall very helpful and welcoming.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have been through many forms of official training such as IPC I have expanded my analytical knowledge when looking through technical documents and processes. i have been given many opportunities to step outside of my comfort zone and work on some exciting and new products and equipment.

How well organised/structured is your programme?

well structured throughout and plenty of support with all of the portfolio work and logging of progress.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

plenty of support for day to day work, and more help is always available from course guides as well as other colleagues
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

i receive plenty of support and lots of time to complete tasks
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

the support that i recieve is always tailored to the task and any confusion can be cleared up easily for the task.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

in the first 2 years there are opportunities for extracurricular activities, as well as the opportunity to join as a STEM ambassador, this opens up plenty of doors by itself. we have a dedicated person in each year to organise activities between the cohorts to help get to know each other.

it is a well known company, there are a lot of opportunities, plenty of benefits. and the location is well accessible.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BAE Systems?
it may look daunting at first, but the support they give you is incredible. as with all interviews it will be awkward, but the HR team is approachable and supportive throughout the whole procedure.
