Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

As an apprentice in this role, no two days are the same. We work in a theatre where we can have two different productions on every day with many more stored away. As an apprentice in this, you are involved in changing between every department in the building which gives a creative, varied and rewarding working life.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I learn new skills every day, from communication to resolving various technical issues, I’m constantly learning.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

The course is well structured, each apprentice is given a clear annual schedule and we get monthly review sessions, with plenty of apprenticeship managers to speak too about any concerns.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

The support is fantastic, I have always felt up to speed and ensured I’m learning at a good pace.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

The college is fantastic at scheduling my learning sessions and assignments, I also gain plenty of time off a week to ensure this is done .
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

It feels rewarding to know everything I am taught can be practically applied to every working day.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

We have plenty of access to networking events and days to learn more about our industry, with lots of partners to make this possible.

Why?
I don’t believe there is any better apprenticeship for scale of learning, support, community and work. The nature of this job means you are constantly exposed to new learning, new experiences and new people.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Royal Ballet and Opera?
Be yourself, this workplace is full of people from many backgrounds and skill levels and it feels like every person is valued no matter what.
