Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

As a Site & Facilities Apprentice (Project Management) I work to plan, coordinate and deliver infrastructure based projects. Each day varies however the role consists of hands-on site based exposure with office-based project coordination. Stakeholder engagement is a vital part of the role, working to pull different parts of the projects together.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

My programme consists of rotating around year long placements. Each placement is different, and so has a differing levels of enjoyment, however I have thoroughly enjoyed each of my placements so far.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

As part of the apprenticeship there are a variety of skills I am required to meet / learn. Examples of these skills include scheduling, stakeholder and communications management, risk management, contract management & quality control. Soft skills developed throughout the apprenticeship so far include communication skills, time management, problem-solving & innovation.

How well organised/structured is your programme?

4 days in placement and 1 day at university per week. Regular check-ins with early careers. Aware of competencies that need to be met and how they can be achieved.

Attending university to study Project Management provides me with a background knowledge that benefits be within my role within the business.

Regular events organisation by the apprentice council. Casual activities organised by individual teams / departments (e.g. socials, 5-a-side, bake sales etc.)
