Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
Worked closely with various credit teams, worked on a variety of projects for the bank both shorter term and longer term and travelled to branches to gain more insight into company culture.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
Yes, the bank was very good at giving a good balance between autonomy and guidance. I was included in meaningful work and my contributions were used in reporting.

Support and guidance was always a call/skype away when needed and everyone was happy to give you their time of day with any queries you may have had.

Company Culture
What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
The company culture was fantastic. Handelsbanken is unique in that it has a decentralised and flat structure which isn't very common in the finance industry. The benefits of this structure feeds directly into the culture of the bank. The opportunities to network are vast.

Make sure to speak to as many people as possible because everyone will give you their time if you ask. You will have some guidance but grab any opportunities with your own hands, if you do you have the potential to get an invaluable expereience out of the internship.
