Summer intern Review

Alongside workbook and training schedule tasks, I aided the managers and the AMS team with various roles, alongside working on several projects and presentations. I helped Lincoln branch employees with several tasks involving organisational work.
I’ve shadowed several meetings, both internal and with clients. In general, I have shadowed AMS, IB and Corporate individually doing different tasks

In the tasks I was involved with, I was given a lot of responsibility and I was expected to do the tasks with a high degree of independence. They gave me tasks to complete which I would be able to do within the 8 week span, which made a direct impact to the branch which I was able to see.

I have gained an increased understanding of the financial industry, including the various processes and terminology often used in the industry, as well as a full understanding of the culture at Handelsbanken. I have gained experience of working in an office environment and have also learnt the different career pathways I am able to take within Handelsbanken

I received a lot of support. Whenever I was unsure on anything, I was comfortable to ask anyone in the branch. In general, I had various sources of support available to me, including the branch manager, branch mentor, a mentor from another branch and a HR business partner.

Handelsbanken has an extremely good company culture which is quite unique compared to other banks; everything the bank does revolves around the customer rather than profits.
Everyone working in the branch is quite comfortable with each other. There is a general friendly atmosphere present in the branch which makes working in the branch quite enjoyable.

I enjoyed my internship a lot. It exceeded my expectations and I found it extremely useful. I was given various tasks which I could always be working on throughout the internship. It was very refreshing compared to other banks, and I have been offered to come back to work during the holidays, which I am considering
