Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
In my role as an IT Apprentice, I start each day by joining the daily operations meeting, followed by a department meeting where we discuss current issues and possible improvements. I also have a meeting with my team to confirm what I’ll be focusing on for the day. Most of my work involves learning and understanding the processes used in our department, while also supporting the team by suggesting new ideas, spotting areas where we can improve, and looking for opportunities to digitalise manual tasks. This helps me build my skills while contributing positively to the team.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
My communication skills have improved through regular meetings and discussions with different teams, and I’ve also become more confident in presenting my ideas. On top of that, I’ve strengthened my critical‑thinking skills by analysing issues, suggesting improvements, and looking for ways to digitalise our processes. These experiences have helped me grow both personally and professionally.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
My apprenticeship programme is well‑structured and gives me the chance to gain real hands‑on experience. One of the key strengths of the programme is that I can go on placements around the business for 3-6 months at a time, which helps me learn how different teams work and understand the bigger picture. This structure allows me to build practical skills, see real‑world processes, and develop professionally while still having clear guidance and support throughout my learning journey.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
I receive a good level of support from my employer throughout my apprenticeship. We have an apprentice training centre on site that looks after all apprentices across both the office and the workplace, making sure we have guidance whenever we need it. They help us stay on track, answer questions, and provide support with both our learning and day‑to‑day experience. This makes me feel supported and confident as I continue developing in my role.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
I receive plenty of support from my training provider, which is my university. I have course leads who are always available when I need help, and I can easily contact them through Teams or email. If I need extra guidance, I can also book a 1:1 session, which I find really helpful. All of my learning materials and resources are online, so I can access everything whenever I need it. Overall, the support from my training provider makes it much easier to stay on track with my qualifications.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
I feel that my qualification helps me in my role, although not everything I learn directly links to what I do day to day. There are parts of my university work that I can apply in the office, and it’s useful when I get the chance to use that knowledge in real situations. Even though the connection isn’t always clear, the hands‑on experience at work still helps me understand the concepts better and see how they fit into real‑world processes.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
Yes, there are plenty of extra‑curricular activities available at my workplace. I can get involved in things like charity events, writing articles, and other activities that help me engage more with the business outside of my normal role. These opportunities make it easier to meet new people, develop different skills, and take part in things that contribute positively to the company and the community.
