Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
I change placement every 4 months but currently work in the Materials Team. Part of this included creating parts for demanders on our system and logging it in the database. Another role within my current placement is tracking, logging and ordering overheads.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
3/5
In my last two placements I have enjoyed it quite a lot, however my first year of placements were not good at all.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
3/5

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
1/5
In terms of our NVQ, the structure is very poor. Our job isn't accounted for in consideration of things like the criteria we need to meet. For example, job write ups are very difficult for us to do as the work we do doesn't relate to the criteria. Along with this, whilst the structure was changed for the apprentices in the year below us, nothing changed for us and we just had to deal with it. Also, we haven't had a consistent assessor since we started. We have had assessors come and go, and when a new one comes along, they say that the work we had done wasn't right and were told it had to be redone, despite our previous assessor saying it was good enough.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
3/5
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
In college (BTEC) our current instructors are quite good in helping us achieve our qualifications. However, for a long time it was quite all over the place with instructors coming and going and teaching us different units.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
1/5
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
Babcock provides lots of networking events such as working stands at career events, with some being in different parts of the country.
