Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
As a solicitor apprentice, the role involves supporting legal teams with a broad range of tasks on a day‑to‑day basis, including legal research, drafting and reviewing documents, assisting with case preparation, and managing information to support ongoing matters. The role requires working closely with colleagues to help progress work efficiently, meeting deadlines, and communicating clearly across teams. Alongside practical legal work, the role also involves balancing academic study with workplace responsibilities as part of the apprenticeship programme.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I really enjoy the programme overall, as it provides a good balance of practical experience and academic learning, and allows me to develop my skills in a supportive environment. While there are times when balancing work responsibilities with study commitments can be challenging, this has also helped me build strong time‑management and organisational skills. On the whole, the programme has been a positive and rewarding experience, and I feel it supports both my professional and personal development.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
Through the programme, I have developed a range of both new and existing skills. In particular, I have strengthened my legal research, drafting and attention‑to‑detail skills, as well as my ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines. I have also developed stronger communication skills through working with different colleagues and adapting to a professional environment. Overall, the programme has helped me grow in confidence and become more organised, adaptable and effective in my role.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
The programme is generally well organised, and the structure becomes clearer as you progress through the different years. There were some challenges earlier on, but it’s clear that changes have been made over time based on feedback, which has improved the overall experience.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I receive a lot of support from my employer, both day to day and more generally. Especially from supervisors who are very available and happy to help.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
Support is available when needed, although there is always room for continued improvement as the programme evolves. We receive a good level of study leave for exams especially beginning in 4th year which greatly helps.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
It links well to the role and helps improve practical understanding and performance.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
UK Environmental Law Association, Muslim Network
