Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
It varies placement to placement, but consistently I have found the work to be fairly interesting
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
3/5
The associated degree wasn't particularly well designed or delivered

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
Coding, specialised software, people management, negotiation, presentation, interview skills

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
The interaction between company and university hits a lot of roadblocks, that said the company has a very robust support system for apprentices
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
Every line manager I've had has been happy to give appropriate priority to university commitments, supported personal development, and given reasonable accomodations
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
The individuals are usually very supportive but the overall process structure is difficult to work with
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
2/5
I have occasionally been able to apply my degree to my workplace but usually I relearn the concepts in the workplace
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
There are a lot of options available - but more pertinent to me, there's no pressure to attend these extra curriculars!

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend BAE Systems to a friend?
Yes
Why?
They are among the best of the local options in terms of compensation, there's decent support for apprentices and the apprenticeship placements gives you a good chance to get a read of the business
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BAE Systems?
Be mindful of deadlines, the application windows are quite narrow.
Highlight your commitment to personal development.
Have your questions written down before the interview - notes aren't a problem in an interview!
If you get past the interview stage, make sure you are prompt in all the next steps - some of the induction stuff has a long lead time, you don't want to get delays.
