Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
We hold all of Christie's records, dating all the way back to 1766, and most of our day-to-day tasks involve looking through these records, conducting research on a request basis. We do such tasks for people internally, such as specialists and cataloguers, as well as externally, such as museums, galleries, and researchers. We also host tours within the department, walking people through Christie's history.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I find the job very interesting. I have learnt so much about art history in many different forms from many different people, and delved into many different avenues of research. The department is a very nice space and the team are lovely.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have gained research skills and evolved my organisation skills, both valuable for the job and in the real world. I have also developed my interpersonal skills, talking with people throughout the company, from interns to chairmen.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
There was a slight lack of communication when organising certain apprenticeship-related aspects of the job, but overall i haven't been in any doubt about what to do. I always have a task to be getting on with and am never at a loss or confused.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
If ever I have any queries, I know who to ask about it, and receive a response swiftly. My weekly 1-2-1s with my manager are also very helpful.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
As I said, there was a slight lack of communication with the apprenticeship side of things, but other than that, it has been all good.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
They are very mutually helpful, both giving me knowledge and skills to aid the other.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
We frequently have a wide range of activities on. At the time of writing this, there is an inter-auction house sailing regatta coming up which spans a weekend.

Would you recommend Christie's to a friend?
Yes
Why?
It is a very nice company to work for, full of lovely people and a huge variety of opportunities in any department.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Christie's?
Apply as early as you're able, and talk to people in a variety of roles and departments to network.
