My current role – I do many things this is where I prepare Tax returns on the behalf of the client and send them to review before submission for HMRC, I also work internally on Tax Review on our vulnerable clients, this is where I take all the information provided and completed tax computations to calculate the tax owed or due. I liaise with HMRC directly on our client’s behalf on several matters. I assist on complicated tax matters e.g Tax on the estate, HMRC disclosures. I draft contact with clients and other business to request information that is needed.

I have learnt many new skills - this is tax rules and regulations and my technical knowledge.
Skills that I have strengthened - this would be time keeping and time management, this is due to having a job where you have to time record it really show how much time you spend on a matter and it helps to keep me efficient to ensure that I am achieving the best results in recovery for the work I am completing.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
My Programme is very organised from my work perspective.
The admin side from my training provider that could do with improvement - with that being said within Irwin Mitchell we do have apprenticeship Manager that does help liaise with my training provider and he is very efficient, and when there is a problem he has it resolved very quickly.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
The Support that I receive I cannot fault - I get to learn from Tax Advisors to Partners who take time out of there already busy days to go through my work - what went well what I need to change.
The support I get is not only through my technical knowledge Aswell my skills that are not technical for example, how to organise my files and word emails/letters to clients so that it more efficient and more client friendly- this helps improve my ability outside of the technical aspect and ensures that I can grow as a tax Advisor
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
The training provider are OK. Work do support to ensure that is smooth as possible, but sometimes the training provider can be slow with Reponses.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

Yes

I would recommend because Irwin Mitchell is a reptuable company and they have massive sets of resources and leading people in the industry that you get to learn from directly. they have helped me be the best version of me that I can be.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Irwin Mitchell?
Tips I would give when applying - be yourself , Irwin Mitchell recognises that when your applying for an entry level role that your technical ability is not going to be the best, but what I believe Irwin Mitchell and hiring managers are actually looking for are individuals that are willing and people that they can work with to grow and develop.
