Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
As a DevOps engineer apprentice, my role involves bridging the gap between development and operation teams. Essentially, this involves constantly trying to improve speed, efficiency and reliability of software delivery through automation, cloud infrastructure management and more. As I'm still relatively new, I'm finding that each day brings an opportunity to learn something different and understand how this all works in a professional environment.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I am absolutely loving my time so far. I feel so comfortable asking for help when I need it and I just feel so supported at all times. No question is a silly question, and I can feel myself improving as time goes on.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have improved existing skills such as confidence and communication, whilst developing a variety of new skills that are mostly technical. E.g. coding with python and using Azure (the cloud computing platform).

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
My apprenticeship started off with a remote 16 week intensive bootcamp, where we covered the main fundamentals of DevOps Engineering. After this, we began coming into the office to use the skills we had learnt and keep building up on them. I would say that it's well structured, because I had a good foundation of what the role entailed before coming into the office, thereby reducing nerves.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
We have lots of regular scheduled catchups, but I also feel super comfortable reaching out for support any time I need it.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
We have regular, scheduled meetings and they keep track of our progress. During our meetings, we discuss next steps and if there's anything they can do to help/ support me.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
As I'm relatively new, I haven't had the chance to use all the skills I learnt from my training provider in the workplace yet. Although, there are software used in the workplace that I am familiar with now, due to my training provider.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
There's an early years group that organises socials and activities for new apprentices and graduates.
