Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
I manage the day to day activities on a construction site including works taking place and planning future works
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
The hours are long but I enjoy the job I have

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I have developed my confidence in communication as well and developing my technical knowledge of various areas of construction

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
The university side is incredibly structured with strict lesson times where as on site there is less structure but I have learnt more through completing day to day activities and seeing the work being done by subcontractors
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
I receive as much support as I require depending on the word taking place as there are some areas where I am more confident and need less support and vice versa
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
The university and lecturers can be very helpful with assignments, and set up meetings prior to a deadline for any questions anyone on the course may have
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
I think the KSBs and finding the evidence I need to gather helps me perform better as it forces me to understand other areas and roles of construction such as quantity surveying or planning which results in me having a broader knowledge base.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
We have a social club that offers discounted tickets for events across the country. Depending on the location of the project there are usually evenings out after work for dinner and drinks.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend BAM to a friend?
Yes
Why?
All the staff are incredibly welcoming and are happy to help when there’s something I don’t understand and the benefits outside of work life that I receive from BAM are very helpful
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BAM?
When interviewing for a degree apprenticeship make sure you are prepared with information regarding past projects and have a basic understanding to the construction process
