Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

I currently work as a Front of House Receptionist while also completing a Business Administration apprenticeship. In my day-to-day role, I am responsible for greeting clients, checking them in upon arrival, and escorting them to their designated meeting rooms. I also manage the booking and scheduling of meeting rooms, ensuring that they are organised efficiently and prepared for client use.
Alongside my role, I am undertaking a Business Administration apprenticeship, which has helped me develop a deeper understanding of workplace practices and improve my professional and personal skills. I typically complete my apprenticeship studies on Fridays alongside other apprentices within the company, which provides a collaborative learning environment and allows us to share experiences and knowledge.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I really enjoy being part of the Business Administration apprenticeship programme. It has given me the opportunity to learn new skills and gain a better understanding of how a professional workplace operates. I find the sessions very useful, as they help me develop both my confidence and my knowledge in areas that support my role at work. Studying alongside other apprentices on Fridays is also something I enjoy, as it allows us to share our experiences, learn from one another, and support each other throughout the programme. Overall, the apprenticeship has been a very positive experience and has helped me grow both professionally and personally.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have learned and developed a number of new skills during my apprenticeship. In particular, I have improved my personal development skills, which has helped me better understand my strengths and areas where I can continue to grow. I have also developed stronger time management skills, which allow me to organise my workload more effectively and balance my responsibilities between my role at work and my apprenticeship studies. These skills have helped me become more confident, organised, and productive in my day-to-day work.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

My apprenticeship programme is very well organised and clearly structured, which makes it easier to follow and stay on track with my learning. The sessions are planned in a way that allows me to understand each topic step by step, and the materials provided help support my learning effectively. Having a dedicated study day each week also allows me to focus on my development without distractions. Overall, the structure of the programme helps me manage my studies alongside my work responsibilities and ensures that I am continually progressing.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I receive a great deal of support from CMS Law Firm as my employer while completing my apprenticeship. They are very understanding and encourage my development by giving me the time and resources I need to focus on my studies. My colleagues and managers are supportive and always willing to help if I have questions or need guidance. This support has made it much easier to balance my work responsibilities with my apprenticeship and has helped me feel more confident as I continue to learn and grow in my role.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I receive a good level of support from my training provider while working towards my qualifications, and I believe we have built a strong and positive working relationship. The tutors are helpful and provide clear guidance during the learning sessions, ensuring that I understand the topics we cover. They are also available to answer any questions and offer support when I need help with coursework or assignments. This level of support helps me stay on track with my studies and gives me greater confidence in successfully completing my qualification.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I feel that my qualification through my training provider helps me perform better in my role. The knowledge and skills I am learning through the programme support my day-to-day responsibilities and help me understand the workplace more effectively. It has improved my organisation, communication, and time management skills, which are all important in my role as a Front of House Receptionist. Overall, the qualification is helping me build useful skills that make me more confident and effective in my job.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Yes, there are extra-curricular activities to get involved in at work. Recently, I attended an apprenticeship event organised by CMS Law Firm. The event was a great opportunity to meet and connect with other apprentices, share experiences, and learn more about the different apprenticeship programmes within the company. It was also a valuable networking experience and helped me feel more involved in the wider apprenticeship community at the firm.
