Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
At the time, I was a community content curator for local newspapers. During the apprenticeship, I moved to a digital news platform called InYourArea.co.uk. I was given the opportunity to undertake a work-based apprenticeship to gain a NCTJ Level 3 Diploma in Journalism. I gained a Gold Standard qualification.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I learned a whole new skill set. Journalism essentials, photography, Media Law and more. The majority of which I use in my everyday work which also helped me move forward within the organisation. I am now Head of Insights and currently on my second Apprenticeship with the company. This time for Data to support my existing role.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
The NCTJ programme was brilliant and perfectly tailored to the qualification. The new one is well-structured, it took a little while to get in to the flow as it started just before Christmas break which wasn't ideal.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
The support from my employer and immediate line managers has been incredible. I can't fault it.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
Everything is tailored to support learners in gaining their qualifications.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
100%
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
We work from home as a team scattered across the UK. There is the opportunity to go to the London office if that's convenient, and when I've been, it's been good fun, with a social element at the end of the day. Our remote team have daily video calls, and we also have a virtual newsroom where we can chat and work, or work in silence if we need human interaction. There are also chat groups with other apprenticeships scattered across the country. This is very useful.
