Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

I complete accounts for Ltd companies, sole traders & partnerships. I also work on pension accounts, clubs & charities. Throughout the year, I also undertake audit work and help with the completion of tax returns. I also have experience working in admin though answering the phones, dealing with clients in reception etc.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Yes I am constantly leaning new things and developing my skills. For example, my confidence and patience has hugely improved due to dealing with client queries. I have also learnt to use many different softwares to aid my job role, such as Sage, IRIS, Quickbooks, Xero etc. Through my time in college, I have learnt a lot about the accounting industry as a whole, as well as the importance of abiding by GDPR regulations and maintaining confidentiality in the work place.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

So far, the structure of my programme has been great. For example, my employer pushed for me to complete my Level 3 AAT qualification slightly early to enable me to start my Level 4 in April, instead of waiting until September. This is going to hugely benefit me as I will be able to complete my apprenticeship much quicker.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I receive so much support from my employer, both at work and with college. I am able to bring my college work into to work to complete at lunchtime, with the help of my colleagues if necessary. They also provide me with time at work to catch up on college work if I am falling behind. My colleagues are so patient with me when teaching me something new, making sure to go over it if needed to ensure I understand it fully.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

My college tutors always provide us with enough resources to ensure we fully understand the topics before sitting the exams. They are also very helpful if they is a topic that I am struggling with, making sure to sit with me and go through it in more detail.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

The knowledge and skills obtained from my college course have massively increased the quality of work that I am able to complete in my daily role. This is because I now have a deeper understanding of how to complete my work to the best of my ability.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

I have taken part in an apprentice event by sharing my experience with other aspiring accountants.
