Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

As an accountant, my main day-to-day work is usually preparing sets of annual accounts for limited companies. In addition to this, I prepare the corporation tax returns too.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I very much enjoy my role at Walter Dawson, the family feel of the company is something that has really appealed to me and makes working so much more enjoyable.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Since beginning here in March 2025, I have developed my technical accounting skills and my communication skills with clients. I continue to develop these skills on a daily basis.

How well organised/structured is your programme?

The current programme I am on is very well structured, allowing me to set clear goals and work towards my qualification at a good pace for myself.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

My employer is very supportive of my qualification, they do everything that they can to make me feel comfortable and nothing is too much for them.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

My training provider is First Intuition, they have been fantastic with me. The lessons I attend at their centres are very helpful and the lectures are great.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

By working towards my ACCA qualification, it has helped me improve my technical accounting skills, which I use day-to-day at work.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

There is a social event every 3/4 months at work, which allows me to meeting people from other offices in a social setting. This makes it easier to form relationships, and I really enjoy these socials.

What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Walter Dawson & Son?
I would say just be yourself and be ready to work hard, there are so many opportunities at the firm that are offered, which is a bonus.
