Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

I work 4 days a week in the office and have 1 day at college a week training for my apprenticeship exams. Within the workplace I complete VAT returns, bookkeeping, some accounts prep and I have recently started learning to prepare final accounts and tax returns alongside colleagues too.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I enjoy learning new things and building up my knowledge to be able to complete tasks independently after learning, and receiving help and guidance from colleagues.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have learnt lots of new skills, before I started at Walter Dawson and Son I didn't know anything about accounting, I now create VAT returns from start to finish independently and have much more understanding on different types of businesses. I am still learning every day and have a lot more I would like to learn and my colleagues are great at teaching me new things and supporting me when I am doing something new for the first time.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

It is very structures, I have a college day every Monday where I learn the content of the AAT Level 3 course, and Tuesday - Friday I go into the office and carry out daily tasks which support my learning at college.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I have a line manager who sets me tasks throughout the day to complete, as well as an office manager. We have team meetings in the Bradford Office monthly, as well as one to one sessions with line managers every 4 - 6 weeks where I can discuss anything, including things I may be struggling with or things I would like to learn, and I set 3 targets to have completed by the next one to one.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I receive support at college from the tutor as well as the apprenticeship coordinator, they both come out to my workplace regularly to catch up on what I have learnt and how I am doing.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I think the college course really supports me in my role, recently I have passed the financial statements exam and learning the content of this really helped me to carry out some of the tasks I am set at work and gave me much more understanding.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Yes there are social events quite often, there are two annual events; an annual review at the company's year end which every staff member from every office is required to attend, where the directors speak about the year, and there is also an event, 'The Walters' each year where 4 awards are given out and everyone in the firm is also invited to this.
