Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
Overall, Computacenter found a real sweet spot in having a mix of learning, standard Business as usual tasks and challenging tasks that increased my skill set. I mainly worked on small networking project's within the Internal Services team - which mainly included upgrading and removing switches and applying new networks for connectivity.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
My role was both intellectually challenging and socially rewarding. Within Computacenter there is lots of networking opportunities within your own apprenticeship cohort and within the wider organisation.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I can not speak highly enough of how Computacenter have improved my development, there has always been the budget for me too take industry courses or extra learning with little discussion about the cost. there is also lots of senior engineers who will actively go out their way too get you involved in projects as well and will provide knowledge training sessions.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
Computacenter made sure that I had active communication before my apprenticeship so lots of the admin steps beforehand were completed; where there were hickups with the structure the early careers team takes action on it and ensures that the appropriate measures get put into place.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I had active discussions with many people in my company thoughout my apprenticeship. HR keep in touch with me though confidential 1-2-1 sessions, allowing me too share any struggles or concerns I have.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
Firebrand, have a well structured course which follows industry standard certifications - however sometimes they can be slightly sluggish when providing proactive resources, if you follow at a pace that is quicker then expected from them.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
Firebrand have put on three one week courses during my apprenticeship, this provided me a chance in a small cohort too be instructed at a dedicated training camp too learn off experienced instructors.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
Monthly community calls, provided a great way too network with people at different bases or different areas that I don't interact with day to day. most people at Computacenter are extremely approachable. While some teams might not actively try too have team bonding together; its very much what you put in is what you get out - if you make an effort there is many of opportunity's for pure social or professional networking events.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Computacenter to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Computacenter are well known for there people management throughout the organisation and my experience completely reflect that. ignoring all of the points I made before, even the small stuff which you don't think about before you start are shared to you in a structed manor such as how too claim expenses, holiday, company benefits etc. Its clear that the apprenticeship program is well thought out and has matured processes. If I was a looking for an apprenticeship, I would have no problems doing an apprenticeship doing one at Computacenter again.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Computacenter?
People want you to do well here, no one is going too judge you for not being perfect in whatever aspect of the application - they understand that this is probably your first time doing this.
