Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
Coordinating HR input into business acquisitions or disposals i.e. either buying other companies/products or selling parts of the Group to prospective buyers. It's a lot of project management making sure key tasks get done while learning more about the legal requirements to ensure employees are not detrimented, especially through a sale process.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I love it! The programme is about coaching which is something I've been passionate about for a long time and there are so many opportunities to apply it in my day to day work.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
Loads of new coaching frameworks as well as skills around taking time for reflection, continuing professional development and how to read people in terms of facial expressions, body language and the specific words they use. It's good for coming up with effective questioning techniques as well.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
Very well structured although the system used by the 3rd party supplier BPP isn't great and it's not always easy to find what you're looking for.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
Pretty much all I need. I get the time to do my work during working hours so I don't have to be working on it in the evenings or weekends which is ideal for me.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
I have check-ins with my Coach Mentor every 6 weeks and my manager from work comes to every 2nd one. They are really good at helping me understand next steps in the programme and what will be required from an assessment perspective when the time comes for that.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
It absolutely is. The opportunities for practical application of what I'm learning are numerous and I've been able to help colleagues from all over the organisation with many issues that have been holding them back which can only be a good thing for the organisation as a whole.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Yes there's loads of things available through various Employee Led Networks either work related or more social focused. There's also a well used Microsoft Engage platform that has groups for any number of different topics both work related and social - I've been eyeing up a book group which reads a different book every month then gets together to discuss it.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend NatWest Group to a friend?
Yes
Why?
It's such a large organisation with a wide range of areas that there are any number of different careers you could have here. They have a strong focus on training and development as well which as really helped me develop in my role.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to NatWest Group?
Just be yourself. Do a bit of research about the company on the website as they'll ask you some things about that in the interview so it's helpful to show you've taken the effort to find out some things, especially relating to the business area you're trying to get a job in - if you can talk to someone and ask a few questions beforehand, even better. LinkedIn can be quite good for this also.
