Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
Attend meetings, arrange catch-ups with members across the ABI to understand their roles, research to prepare for meetings, work on projects
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
I was given a perfect amount. I was guided with my tasks but also left to myself to get on with my own work and manage my time responsibly. I was also able to work on personal projects such as my blog which was solely down to my research but I had help and catch ups with members of the team to ensure I was on track.

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
I have become more confident with conversing with external members of the ABI and discussing topics which I know less about which has helped me to learn and listen and question when I am unsure. Also, have become more confident when interacting and working with those in different levels of seniority.

Support and Guidance
How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
I received amazing support and guidance from everyone during my placement. Those in my team would always check up on me and ask how I was doing/ how was finding my work to make sure I wasn't overwhelmed or had not enough to do. Everyone, not only on my team, was always willing to put time aside to help me and answer any questions I may have.

Company Culture
What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
The culture and atmosphere at the ABI is incredible. Their values are very evident in their work culture and everyone is extremely friendly and open to converse. Not at any point did I feel like I wasn't able to ask a question. I was not made to feel that any of my questions were silly questions.

Overall Experience
To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
As my first internship, I really enjoyed it. The atmosphere at the ABI did not at any point make me feel scared or that my work here was not appreciated. I know that working at the ABI has given me huge standards to fill for any future placements I may have.

Yes
What advice would you give to others applying to The ABI
Do it. I applied with zero knowledge with regards to insurance or finance in any shape or form. The work I was given was perfect for my abilities and any extra explanations I needed were always provided without any hesitation. At times I didn't understand terminology etc. but all was explained and thats the best way to learn!
