Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
During my apprenticeship, my role involved caring for acutely unwell patients in a high dependency unit. This included providing personal care, promoting independence, taking blood samples, and conducting observations, among other tasks. The position required the ability to work effectively in high-pressure environments and to reprioritise responsibilities as needed.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I appreciated learning the theory behind our actions and gaining insight into the external processes that help the front end run smoothly.
The only reason I did not give a 5/5 is due to the frequent changes in coaches and the lack of communication before a coach left. As a neurodivergent individual, this was challenging. However, the Trust FHFT has been an immense support and has helped me navigate the external company.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I believe my skills were greatly enhanced.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
As mentioned in the previous question, coaches changing and leaving created challenges for me, as each coach works differently and I had to adapt to their individual styles. As someone who is neurodivergent, this was challenging, but I was able to overcome it with time. The support from FHFT was excellent, so I have no complaints in that regard.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
As above my employer support was outstanding.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
As above.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
Answered in a previous question
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Yes, during my apprenticeship I began getting involved in audits and also started my own project to improve patient experience.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust to a friend?
Yes
Why?
This is an outstanding employer who truly values their employees. For the first time, my differences are seen as strengths rather than reasons to be excluded. I have great respect for the Trust and the Learning Development Team for supporting me throughout my journey. Now, in a band 5 role, my confidence and knowledge are continually growing. None of this would have been possible without the Trust and the key individuals who gave me this opportunity.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust?
