Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

As a finance apprentice, I complete daily tasks like posting to the receivables ledger, reviewing invoice requests and managing internal finance queries. I also help with the month end process which aligns with the course I am currently studying towards. (Level 2 - Accounting)

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Being at christies for over 5 months now I have learnt so much. I understand why we complete different processes and why reconciling is so important. I have learnt to navigate our financial systems to generate different invoices for both private sales and client accounting. I was also given the opportunity to handle my own sale, gaining knowledge in the different processes that take place in order for the auction to go ahead.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

My programme is very organised, in a way that I am consistently learning with the right amount of work being given to me. I am challenged with projects that I might not be so familiar with but always supported by my team.

How much support do you receive from your employer?

I receive lots of support from my employer we have weekly catch ups and I can contact them whenever I need.

How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

My training provider is excellent, I have access to many recourses that help towards my exams. I attended a weekly live study session in which I interact with my tutor and other apprentices. This is the time I can ask any questions which help my learning.

How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

My qualification fits closely to my day to day tasks. I am now more confident using different ledgers and I now understand how they work so I am not just doing processes without knowing why they are being done.

Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

There are lots of extra curricular activities to get involved in at christies. We have lots of apprentice social events. Also events to network with different teams. There is a football team and a running club. Since being here I have had lots of opportunities to network with different people around the business.

Would you recommend Christie's to a friend?

Yes

Why?

Christies is a very inclusive environment. When I first joined I felt supported not only just by my team but everyone I spoke too. My team are always teaching me new things to help my progress and are willing to spend time explaining things so I can fully understand. Overall I would say working at christies is such a positive experience, not only do you get to experience the beautiful art but you feel included and supported.

What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Christie's?

The application process can be scary but I feel its important to be yourself and have confidence in that. I wouldn't over think what you are going to say or do because everyone would much rather get to know you for you.
