Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
The work that is done on site begins by convening with the other engineers on my site at the start of shift, breaking down the works for the day, which areas are high priority, low priority, expected to be done first etc...
Afterwards, all engineers go out to site, liase with the supervisor of the working area, and provide levels, positions, information on what is occurring in their area. Then, we set out the works in the supervisors work area and observe the works that the supervisor is doing, making sure that they are doing the works to the design and specification.
Also, we observe the office side of being a Site Engineer. This is where the drawings provided to us by the client can be observed and be transferred to our devices to put onto site. Also, we survey works being done on site, and to prove that the work is being done to the correct standard, we create our own drawing and provide this to the client, and also writing up checksheets using pictures to show that the works are being done properly. These are only basic parts of a day to day life and they can go much deeper then this, such as studying health and safety standards, temporary works and much more then this.

Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
Onsite, I have learnt how to use intricate devices such as a Leica Total Station and GPS, Rotating Lasers, Pipe Lasers and many more.
Offsite, I have learnt how to use AutoCAD, BIM and have also developed the use of Excel. Also, I have learnt how to analyse drawings and applying this to onsite work.
