Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
As a post-sale apprentice I support the team in all operations after a sale. Working across two task areas (post-sale and client service collections), my responsibilities vary weekly which keeps my role interesting. When working on general post-sale, I manage the inbox, handle client queries over email and on the phone, print invoices, and report updates on sale dashboards. When working on CSC, I update shipping spreadsheets and calendars, book shipments, and communicate with our shippers.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I have really enjoyed my programme so far. I find that the split of working and studying informs my performance in my role and in my apprenticeship. I have learnt so much about the industry and business as a whole, which is something I can not only enjoy now, but use to build the next steps in my career

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have greatly improved on my communication skills, which has come from working alongside so many stakeholders, both internal and external. I have also improved on my problem solving while managing the inbox, which has in turn informed my attention to detail. I feel that I have massively developed my understanding of professionalism and how I personally can apply this.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
I feel that the programme is very well structured, beginning with onboarding for both the job and the apprenticeship, in which the timeline and organisation of the programme is outlined. From there, this is followed in stages to allow time for learning, growth and confidence.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I receive a lot of support from my line manager with weekly check-ins, as well as the wider team who are ready and willing to answer questions and show me their processes. I also had a buddy in the previous apprentice cohort who I could ask about my role as an apprentice and how to take those first steps into the working world. We also are provided with lots of support contacts in HR if further support is needed.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
I receive a lot of support from my training provider in the form of monthly 1-1s, and tri-monthly progress reviews alongside my line manager. Learning is constantly reviewed at each stage to fill in any gaps and all information is relayed clearly. There is also a message function on our apprenticeship platform, which allows me to contact my coach with ease regarding any questions I may have. These are always responded to clearly and promptly.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
I feel that my continued learning of business administration has informed my understanding of exactly where I fit into the team, the business and the wider industry. With this knowledge I am able to build a picture around the tasks I am working on and therefor complete them to a higher standard with all of the necessary information, which I may have missed if working only in the context of my own role. I have also completed many workshops on various skills within the workplace, which I have then in turn been able to apply.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
There are many activities to get involved in like running and football clubs, various committees devoted to a wide range of causes, and frequent social and networking events that allow you to connect with people around the wider business. There are also frequent apprentice cohort events, which allow us to build rapport with our peers.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Christie's to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I feel that the programme really aims to equip you with all the tools you need to build a rewarding and successful career. There is a great focus on individual futures, and discovering/developing one's best strengths. There is immense support from all around the business from some of the industry's top professionals, and being part of the apprentice cohort creates a lovely added layer of community.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Christie's?
Ensure you show a willingness to learn, and stay open-minded about the wide range of departments you could be a fit for. Make sure to be yourself - employers want to know what makes you, you, and these things are often going to be your greatest strengths.
