Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
Day to day I am responding to client emails and phone calls, during sale weeks then I am registering clients to bid in sales, completing their accounts and completing my apprenticeship work.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I enjoy the programme immensely, every day is different and every sale is different, it can be very busy but in the 7 months I have been with Christie's I have learnt so much about the business, art and auction houses overall.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have felt my client service skills have developed immensely, speaking to clients is a key part of my role so with time I have grown in confidence communicating independently, I also feel my time management abilities have grown as balancing apprenticeship work with day to day tasks and sale days requires organisation and focus.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
From my first week with Christie's I could tell that the programme was incredibly well organised. The apprenticeship programme has been run for quite a few years therefore fellow colleagues and departments are used to new apprentices and understand the programme well. My department had two apprentices the year prior who were very willing to assist with any questions I had and I underwent almost a month of training to build my confidence and understanding of my role overall.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I find I have received an immense amount of support from my employer, my apprenticeship days are dedicated purely towards my studies and any questions, support I may need I feel as if I can ask for.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
I receive monthly one to ones meetings and attend workshops as part of my apprenticeship provider, I can email and arrange teams meetings with my apprenticeship coach if I have any questions and coursework based study allows me to refer back to past information.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
I study a level three business administration apprenticeship, it has supported me in my role through giving me a greater understanding of how businesses function as a whole.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
There is a multitude of extra-curricular activities and groups to get involved with at Christie's, there is a running club, environmental group, LGBTQIA+ groups, women's group and a variety of different Charity events run throughout the year.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Christie's to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I have enjoyed my apprenticeship with Christie's immensely, the ability to learn whilst gaining real life work experience has been the best route for me as somebody who was hesitant to attend university, a company like Christie's as an auction house is so unique and the opportunity to be a part of record breaking sales and see artwork I otherwise would not is invaluable.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Christie's?
Research the variety of different departments at Christie's that host apprentices. Attend the apprentice open day and keep up to date and informed on the recent sales that we have going on at King Street.
