Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
I support my team to deliver monthly and quarterly financial reporting. This involves extracting, transforming and loading data, identifying trends and anomalies, delivering process improvements, and liaising with stakeholders.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I really enjoy every aspect of my apprenticeship. It's super varied and I'm given plenty of responsibility but not so much that it's stressful. The weekly webinars cover a wide range of knowledge and skills, so there's always something new to learn. LBG provides a huge range of learning resources, networking opportunities and social events, which adds a lot of value to my apprenticeship.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
The apprenticeship webinars give an overview of key skills like Python, SQL, statistics and data visualisation. In my role I regularly use SQL, Excel and Power Query. I've also used the training resources available in-house to learn how to use Power BI, Access and Google Cloud Platform.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
The taught components of the apprenticeship don't always line up well with the skills I am demonstrating in my portfolio work, so I sometimes have to do quite a lot of independent research. For example, I completed a piece of work that involved data visualisation weeks before it was covered in class. Some of the harder skills like Python and SQL were covered before simpler things like statistical analysis in Excel.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
My line manager and the apprenticeship team are always available to help. They understand the demands of the course as it is well-established at LBG.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
I have regular meetings with my coach, who provides feedback and guidance about my portfolio work to ensure I meet the course's requirements. The instructor for the weekly webinars is very knowledgeable and helps to explain how the topics link to the final outcomes of the apprenticeship.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
The apprenticeship means that I have gained a wide range of skills and experience, beyond what I would be exposed to if I had another entry-level role in my team. This is because the apprenticeship covers lots of technical skills and tools that my team doesn't typically use, so I've been able to learn them and find opportunities to introduce them in my work.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
There is loads going on! There are apprentice-specific events, departmental opportunities and whole-business initiatives. For example, an office-wide choir, volunteering outreach events in local schools, informal apprentice socials and hackathons.
