Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
Drawing and manufacturing key components to assist in the production of vessels for ministry of defence.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I have enjoyed the course so far and have developed a lot of new skills. The programme has been a little bit disjointed from an academic perspective however, this is being addressed.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I have learnt a lot of new skills in relation to the job role I will be carrying out when I have completed my apprenticeship including; the use of all machinery and equipment, the differences of materials used in fabrication and skills such as welding.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
The work carried out within the learning workshop environment has been excellent however, unfortunately this has not been mirrored with the academic side of the course which has been poorly delivered in my opinion due to lack of direction and tutors.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
I have been supported well by my employer especially during some personal reasons in which I needed to take unexpected time off. Everyone is helpful and is always happy to help out.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
The academic side of the course has been poor but is currently being addressed, this has been due in part to a lack of preparation to deliver the relevant content and have adequately trained tutors to deliver the course when in college.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
The academic side of the apprenticeship is clearly relevant however, I feel the work completed in the workshop time holds more weight in terms of helping me develop and become better prepared to perform better in my role.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
There are social activities and development opportunities such as joining apprentice councils and STEM ambassador.
