Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
I work as a Data Analyst in the Payments Technology team at NatWest. In my role, I develop detailed data‑mapping flows for various payment methods, tracing input messages from the start of the payment journey through to the final processing stage. I also work extensively with GDPR requirements, ensuring that all systems retain customer data correctly, neither under‑retaining nor over‑retaining. Furthermore, I calculate the appropriate retention periods for each system.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I really enjoy my programme, I genuinely love it. The work is engaging, the learning opportunities are constant, and I feel like I’m growing my skills every day. The combination of hands‑on experience, support from my team, and real responsibility makes it a programme I’m genuinely excited to be part of.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I’ve developed several new skills through my programme. One of the biggest improvements has been my confidence. I’m much more comfortable speaking up, asking questions, sharing ideas, and taking ownership of my work. I’ve also strengthened my technical and analytical skills through hands‑on projects and real responsibility.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
The programme is very well organised and structured. The learning follows a clear progression, and each stage builds on the skills developed previously. I always know what’s expected of me, and the combination of on‑the‑job learning, formal training, and support from my team makes the structure really effective.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I receive a great deal of support from my employer. My team, manager, and the wider business are always willing to help, answer questions, and guide me through new tasks. I feel supported both in my day‑to‑day work and in my overall development.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
I receive a strong level of support from my training provider. They are always available to answer questions, provide guidance, and explain anything I’m unsure about. The regular check‑ins and structured learning sessions make it easy to stay on track with my qualification.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
My qualification supports my role extremely well. The training gives me a strong foundation in the analytical skills, frameworks, and technical knowledge I use in my day‑to‑day work. The concepts I learn through the programme directly connect to the tasks I perform in Payments Technology, which helps me feel more confident and capable in my role.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Yes! There are loads of extra‑curricular activities to get involved in; social events, colleague networks, volunteering days, and different groups across the bank. It’s a great way to meet people and feel part of the wider community.
