Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
Working in different sectors of the business, learning new skills and gaining a valuable insight to a working environment. I have had a lot of opportunities with Thales such as Social Impact rep, organising volunteering and social events, trips to different sites and apprentice away days to theme parks. On a day-to-day basis, I work inside of an office completing admin tasks as well as doing college work remotely alongside.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I have thoroughly enjoyed my programme and grateful for all the opportunities I have received and all that I have learnt throughout the 18 months. However due to my learning style and personal preference, I would have preferred to conduct my college work on site at a campus to learn more and delve deeper into my assignments.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have learnt many new skills as well as developing ones I already had. I have been able to feel comfortable with using excel however this is still an area that can be developed. I rotated into 3 different sectors throughout my apprenticeship and each one brought me new skills and information.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
This was the first time Templecombe had offered the business admi apprenticeship, therefore not everything had been fully organised. However, I found that it was structured very well in the terms of being able to go into different placements in the business to learn new things and help decide what I would like to progress with in the future.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I have received plenty of support from my employer, in terms of educational meetings, check-ins with my managers/mentors, progress reviews. There is always an opportunity available and I have had lots of support with volunteering etc.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
I have had regular group and one-to-one meetings with my college assessor, to which she will go through our assignments and provide support. Coming up to my EPA more meetings have been added consistently and I have felt confident with each piece of college work I have completed.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
N/A
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
I have been fortunate enough to be apart of a social club to which we organise events for employees on site such as pizza days and quizzes. I am currently the social impact rep for my site where I get to organise volunteering events for all employees. There are lots of networking events especially for early careers and also opportunities to have talks with CEOs and Heads of sectors.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Thales to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I would absolutely recommend Thales to a friend due to the benefits and opportunities I have received throughout my 18 months. I find it a lot easier and more beneficial to be earning whilst learning and also getting the experience in a work environment to better myself and prepare me for the future. I find it has also helped with building my confidence.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Thales?
Advice I would give is to definitely research the company and learn about Thales' business areas. Show enthusiasm towards the company and the work you are conducting. Ensure to highlight you transferable skills such as communication, teamwork, problem-solving etc. To prepare practically for the application process and interviews. Most of all to be yourself, Thales value authenticity, diversity and honesty.
