Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

I help to create a safe, caring, and stimulating environment where children can learn through play and everyday activities. A few examples of what this involves on a day-to-day basis includes; helping with daily routines, e.g. toileting/nappy changes/handwashing/tidying up etc, ensuring the childrens safety and wellbeing following safeguarding and health and safety procedures, encouraging positive behaviour from the children and also modelling this myself to the children as well as my colleagues. I also have my own key children - This means I carry out observations/assessments on them to ensure they are developing well and where they should be within the birth to five matters
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I enjoy the Level 3 apprenticeship programme to a large extent because it allows me to gain practical experience while also learning the theory behind early years practice. Working in the nursery helps me apply what I learn in my coursework, particularly when supporting children’s development and planning activities. I also enjoy developing new skills such as communication, observation, and understanding the EYFS framework. The programme has helped me become more confident in my role. The only challenge at times is balancing work and coursework, but overall I find the programme very valuable for my career in childcare.
