Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
General commercial duties, assessing applications for payment from sub-contractors, creating Site instructions, forecasting costs, meetings with sub contractors, sending out invitations to tender, comparing costs.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
At first, the job was difficult to invest myself in because there was so much to learn and was very fast paced and overwhelming, however once I understood the tasks I had to do and how to do them, and more in the rhythm of the job, I enjoyed it a lot more.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
Yes- I have learnt so much since starting my job and I learn new things there everyday. Because there is so much to learn in a short amount of time, I also think this has helped with my ability to consume and digest knowledge

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
Extremely well organised, however if the programme is not followed, I think it can become very hard to manage.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
Lots of support, each apprentice gets a line manager and they are extremely helpful when initially starting the job, and exposing you to different parts of the job and getting you in the rhythm of the job. However, I think that most of the things learnt are less so from support but more so from correcting mistakes.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
Not too much, however I don't think it is a bad thing because our qualifications are our responsibility. Additionally, we are given a wide variety of work to be able to cover all bases of our job to gain experience and knowledge in all departments.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
2/5
I think that it is good to introduce new starters with no experience into a job, however i think more is learnt through on the job learning. that being said, I am only in my first year of the apprenticeship and have only done 1/2 of my L4 qualification.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
Yes, e.g. sports and social club, works do, volunteer days
