Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
In my role, I’m involved in a wide range of responsibilities that give me hands‑on experience across land, development and agency work. On a day‑to‑day basis, I regularly carry out site viewings, taking clients around properties and land we have on the market. These range from vacant development plots to historic, listed buildings in central London, which often come with unique complexities and heritage considerations.
A key part of my role involves constant communication with clients, whether I’m organising viewings, discussing offers and bids, or helping to progress transactions. I also spend time reviewing feasibility studies and completing land appraisals, assessing planning potential, development viability, and comparable market evidence. Additionally, I manage and organise large datasets of clients and applicants, ensuring our records are accurate and up to date so we can run effective marketing campaigns and maintain strong relationships.
Overall, my role is a mix of client interaction, analytical work, and practical on‑site experience, giving me a strong foundation in the commercial property and development sector.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I thoroughly enjoy the programme, largely because of the combination of my day‑to‑day role and the people I work with. My team - and the wider CBRE community - are incredibly supportive, approachable and open. One of the things I appreciate most is the environment created by our open‑plan office; it means I can turn a corner and easily have a conversation with someone in a very senior position. That level of accessibility and openness makes the workplace feel collaborative, welcoming and genuinely enjoyable, and it really enhances my overall experience as an apprentice.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
Yes, I’ve developed a wide range of skills throughout the programme. I’ve significantly improved my data analysis abilities, especially when working with large client datasets and interpreting feasibility studies. My presentation skills and overall confidence have also grown as I regularly speak with clients, lead site viewings, and communicate updates across the team. I’ve become better at code‑switching and adapting my communication style depending on the audience, whether that’s senior colleagues, clients, or external stakeholders.
In addition, I’ve strengthened my professionalism in client-facing situations and expanded my market research skills through analysing comparable evidence, tracking trends, and understanding development viability. Altogether, the programme has helped me build both strong technical capabilities and valuable interpersonal skills.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
The programme is very well organised and structured. All the contacts within the apprenticeship team are highly accessible and always willing to support when needed. We have regular meetings that help us stay aligned on our goals and expectations, both for the wider apprenticeship cohort and for our individual sectors. This consistent communication and structure make it easy to understand what is expected, track progress, and feel supported throughout the programme.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I receive an immense amount of support through CBRE. We’re able to book face‑to‑face one‑to‑one sessions whenever needed, which gives us the opportunity to openly discuss any concerns or areas where we want guidance. Personally, my manager and team are incredibly supportive - if I’m struggling with something, they always take the time to sit with me and talk through the whole process, even when they’re extremely busy themselves. This level of support makes a huge difference and creates a very positive environment for learning and development
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
Our training provider, the University of the Built Environment, is also very supportive. They offer a fully interactive online learning portal where we can connect with other students, access lectures, and book sessions with professors whenever needed. The platform is easy to use and provides a dedicated space for communication and academic support. There is also an extensive library of e‑resources, guides and materials that help us with our assignments, research, and overall progress towards our qualifications. This combination of accessible support, digital tools, and academic guidance makes the learning experience structured, flexible, and genuinely helpful.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
I believe the qualification is very useful, but in my current team the day‑to‑day work doesn’t directly overlap with much of the course content. This is mainly because my team typically brings in students who are in their third or fourth year of university, so the work is more specialised and at a more advanced level than the early modules of the programme.
However, I do feel that the knowledge I’m gaining through the course will become increasingly relevant as I rotate into other teams. The core principles, theoretical foundations, and wider industry understanding I’m learning will definitely help me perform more effectively in future roles where the course content aligns more closely with the work. So while the overlap isn’t as strong right now, I’m confident the qualification will support and enhance my performance as I progress through the apprenticeship.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Yes - CBRE offers a huge range of extra‑curricular activities across the company. There are regular social events at team, divisional, sector, and company‑wide levels, which creates a strong sense of community and makes it easy to get to know people outside your immediate group. We also have multiple sports teams that compete internally and externally against other companies, which is a great way to stay active and meet colleagues from different areas of the business.
In addition, there are numerous Employee Business Resource Groups (EBRGs) that anyone can get involved in, including the Military Network, Faith Network, Pride, Social Mobility, and several others. These groups provide supportive communities, networking opportunities, and events throughout the year. Altogether, there’s a wide variety of activities for people with different interests, making CBRE a very engaging and inclusive place to work.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend CBRE Group to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Yes, I would definitely recommend CBRE. Overall, I think it’s an amazing company. The people here are genuinely the best part - the culture is supportive, welcoming, and motivates you to do your best. It’s an environment where you feel encouraged to grow and succeed, whether you’re just starting out in your career or already at a senior level. CBRE offers opportunities, development, and a workplace atmosphere that truly stands out, which is why I would confidently recommend it to anyone.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to CBRE Group?
My main advice for anyone applying to CBRE is to be open, proactive, and willing to learn. CBRE is a people‑focused company, so showing genuine interest, curiosity, and a willingness to get involved goes a long way. Make sure you do your research on the company and the specific business area you’re applying to - having a solid understanding of the industry really helps you stand out.
I would also recommend being confident in asking questions and seeking guidance. There are so many supportive people across the business, and taking advantage of that network will help you grow quickly. Finally, be yourself. CBRE values individuality and diverse perspectives, and the culture here is incredibly welcoming. If you come in with the right attitude and a desire to develop, it’s an amazing place to start and build your career.
