Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
Excellent opportunities daily, you learn so much so quickly.
Everyday you are doing a different task.
Depending on your role you will have different responsibilities.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
The people, the opportunities , the chance to advance my career make this apprenticeship 5 starts for me. It can be difficult but it is highly rewarding.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I came straight from college so my knowledge was limited.
I have learnt and developed skills I never thought I'd be able to do.
Team management , finance skills and project management qualities are all things that come to mind.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
The structure is great, support was there from the minute I applied and carried on into my role. Support is always reachable and the apprentice and early careers team are great.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
Any issues are addressed quickly and solved and fast as possible.
There is a range of teams that support apprentices and they are great.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
The education side of the apprenticeship is fantastic.
I currently do one week online and one week on the University of Cumbria campus and the balance works well.
The sessions are well executed and help me to achieve my apprenticeship criteria.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
Not currently qualified working towards my PMQ. However, I can tell already my knowledge is turning into a great basis for my skills to grow.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
I am a STEM ambassador, I have visited schools representing BAE and offered a range of support and services. It is very a fulfilling and rewarding team to be a part of and I'd recommend becoming a STEM ambassador if you could. It helps me to reach my KSB's ( required targets for my apprenticeship) and is great for of the job hours ( you have to do 1500 over the duration of your apprenticeship)

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend BAE Systems to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I recommend my BAE apprenticeship because it offers a unique combination of hands‑on experience, professional development, and meaningful work. You gain real responsibility from day one, working on projects that genuinely matter, while being supported by skilled mentors who want you to succeed. The structured training programme means you develop technical skills, workplace confidence, and industry knowledge far beyond what you could achieve through study alone.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BAE Systems?
Be yourself! BAE look for unique and genuine people and no matter your educational background you can apply for the roles. There is something at all levels and is ideal for anyone wanting to get into the industry with hands on experience and a qualification.
My only issue was the salary wasn't made known to us until close to starting, this was after months of security onboarding so when the salary was uncovered many people had already left previous roles. The salary had dropped significantly too, so it was quite a blow to people who had already taken pay cuts and weren't expecting the drop.
