Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
As an apprentice chef with Sodexo I would work the normal shift everyone else does except have a study day on Friday where I would do theory work supplied by Hit Training.
The hours were good and easy compared to normal civilian jobs.
Majority of people were quite nice however each day can be very hit or miss and complete opposites.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
The training provided by Hit Training was great as well as the support for the apprenticeship itself. There was also a lot of opportunities to do external events etc which could lead to good opportunities.
The programme also included kitchen masterclasses which for a chef in training is the best thing you could do and very enjoyable.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I learned an awful lot both through the apprenticeship as well as regular work itself.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
The programme is quite well organised and the training providers will make sure your always on track, however, at times I wasn't told key bits of information about the apprenticeship which did waste a bit of time.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
3/5
Decent support as 1 of my working days was a study day, I was able to use lots of different kitchens by myself when I needed to do practical cooking for my apprenticeship.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
Lots of support and help.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
I learnt a lot which I was then able to apply to my work, it also gave me the knowledge to make myself be more confident. especially when, in my experience, many other chefs would come over and say your doing something wrong, even when that may not be true.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
There is lots of extra-curricular activities which is great, however, you dont get much of a choice as you cant refuse.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Sodexo UK to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Good working hours, reasonable, lots of concern about health and safety, spare time allows you to focus more in improving your individual skills as its not super busy.
It also gives you a massive network as you will meet and work with hundreds of people.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Sodexo UK?
Good for starting out or retiring. Maybe don't stay for too long though.
