Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
My role involves working with the team of other apprentices, there is 5 of us. I work alongside others in a networks team to configure devices and networks. I have regular learning sessions with my manager and members of other teams to learn new skills and become a well-rounded apprentice.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I love learning new skills and working with different teams to expand my skill set further. I have learnt lots since starting and I am starting to get more responsibility since starting. The university is all online, where I attend weekly lectures and complete assignments. I find I am able to balance my university work and job role well and have a good work-life balance.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
Since starting this apprenticeship I have learnt lots of new skills and have continued to develop my transferable skills such as communication, team work, punctuality. I have now learnt and seen what physical networking devices are such as switches and firewalls and I have learnt some basic configuration on these. I have developed a lot of coding skills and have had time to complete tasks which improve my configuration of devices.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
The program is quite well-structured, with our managers trying to link our university studies with projects at work. Sometimes the university can be a bit unorganised regarding dates of assignments, but on the whole it is pretty organised.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
My employer gives us lots of time to work on uni related projects and work and will go through anything we are unsure on. This has been very helpful in clearing up any issues that we may be confused on.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
From our training provider if we have any questions they are always answered by our lecturers or our progress tutor will get involved also. They usually respond in a quick amount of time. The sessions are interactive but sometimes I feel the content isn't always relevant or we are doing filler activities.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
The stuff that we learn with our training provider directly links with projects we are doing in work. With university we have learnt more of a theoretical side, learning commands and different cybersecurity concepts and at work we work on projects and tasks that allow us to implement these theoretical skills in a practical sense.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
I attend most of the AGC commitee events (Apprentice and Grads only) which is a good way to network and get to know other people. In our office there aren't as many apprentices so it is nice to go to these events and see more people from our cohort or other cohorts. They usually host one event a month which can range from darts, drinks, the winter ball etc. They are fun and I enjoy seeing people.

Yes
