Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
My role as an Apprentice Engineering involves learning through doing, fixing and maintaining real machinery while studying part time towards a qualification.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
The learning on the job is the highlight of this program. I get to work alongside experienced engineers, absorbing their knowledge and techniques which I can directly apply to tasks on site, college or daily life.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
Fault finding on electrical panels.
Different types of tooling and kits that are available.
Hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
There’s so much more I’ve learned and so many more to learn.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
Since there’s been four years of apprenticeship there has been multiple improvements made.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
My line manager and team leader goes above and beyond to teach me.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
Plenty support
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
I am able to apply this trade skill in every day life like fault finding cars , plumbing and lighting at home.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
2/5
We need an apprentice ship obstacle course that combines mechanical, electrical and teamwork. Have site vs site apprentices compete against each other to test what they have learned, how they work in a team under pressure and who is the weakest link so they can improve.
