Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
My role consists of carrying out different types maintenance on machinery. I also am involved in constant projects which provide exposure to all elements required to learn as much as possible.
I shadow engineers on breakdowns and work requests to gain an insight into how to respond in the face of certain component failures etc.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
My programme simply changed my career and my life in terms of the opportunities it has given me and will continue to give me throughout my journey. The company has always had a nurturing environment in which I have been made to feel comfortable and I feel that I can thrive.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
- Welding
- Turning
- Milling
- Electrics
There are an abundance of skills that I have learnt that sit within the finer realms of electrical and mechanical maintenance from understanding how different electrical components work and how mechanical principles are applied within the workplace.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
I think our programme is well structured, due to the programme being fairly new, it is expected to improve every year as a new cohort of apprentices passed through their EPA (End Point Assessment) and I have a passion for ensuring feedback is given so that we can improve the course year on year.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
I receive a fair amount of support from my employer, with check ins here and there as well as requesting feedback to see where they can support best.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
My training provider is heavily supportive in terms of ensuring deadlines are set and any areas where I may struggle are covered in more depth to ensure I feel confident to pass my qualifications.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
I believe that the provider has a duty to present the theory behind what we see within the workplace therefore, I can take what I have learnt from college directly into my day-to-day work.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
There is availability of networking events in the realm of charity work, working with kids in schools to prepare them for interviews and their early career. However, I think having access to subject applied events would be beneficial for example being able to see new machinery that we are buying or looking at to improve our factories.
