Assistant Management Account - Finance Higher Level Apprentice Review

Overall i would say i have had a good experience at Samworth Brothers, i am in my second placement so far and have been part of a branded team and a private label team. I have done 2 different finance roles one being commercial accounting and one being management accounting, i feel this has given me good exposure to different job roles within finance. It has allowed me to identify my preference for the future. They also provide you with a mentor and buddy to help ease you into a corporate lifestyle and to give you someone to ask questions and gain guidance from. You also have monthly early careers calls which is another form of support.

I have enjoyed my management accounting placement the most, i have established how to put together a p&l and now do this 3 times a week. I feel i have gained invaluable operational experience which is something i had very little of before. I have also learnt about operational variances and feel that i can assist senior stakeholders with any questions they might have about our performance.

I feel i am a valuable member of the team, senior stakeholders will directly ask me for my insight which shows they trust the information that i give them and always come back for more.

I think the pay could be slightly higher, however have amazing benefits such as private healthcare and private pension.

I feel i am getting real life experience and the roles i am performing now will definitely be apart of my future career.

My line manager is amazing and is always on hand for support, likewise with my mentor he makes it very clear if i ever need anything he is just a phone call away. Unfortunately my buddy has left the business and not been replaced.

I think my role is full on and therefore sometimes i have to stay late in order to meet deadlines, i have to study as apart of my apprenticeship and this also takes alot of time and effort and i do have to do some in my own time.

I think samworth is an amazing place to work, you can walk into any part of the business and everyone is super friendly and willing to help you with what they can. You can tell they truly care.

I think they cater and employ a range of different people from different backgrounds.

I think the business has changed since i was recruited and therefore certain things are no longer viable. However, i have gained the experience and qualifications that i expected.
