Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
The day to day basis of the role depends on the placement you are currently in so it will change roughly every 6 months. My tasks currently tend to have one large piece of work to last about a month with smaller tasks cropping up on a daily/weekly basis.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
Really enjoy my job and its a great way to actually learn what you need to know for a job not just the technical side of knowledge that you get from university

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have learnt lots of new skills specific to tasks I am working on such as learning how to use new processes and types of software. I have also developed skills I had in the past mostly presentation skills, communication skills, and working alongside people

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
As a whole the programme is structured well with apprentices able to get experience across a range of teams and projects. The education side is not as well structured with many people not being aware of how additional qualifications such as the NVQ need to be completed within the given time frame
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
Generally the support given is really good but will vary depending on the situation
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
Current experience with the training provider is poor as many apprentices are not getting the support they need from the training provider so we have had to resort to teaching stuff to each other instead of waiting for the training provider to do it
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
So far I don't feel like my qualification is relevant but for my job role there isn't a qualification that would directly lead into it
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Apprentices tend to schedule different meet ups or activities for things they are interested in to do alongside other apprentices then there are also work social events you can take part in

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend BAE Systems to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Provides a great experience for people starting their career as well as great opportunities for the future
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BAE Systems?
Make sure you have completed stuff alongside your qualifications at school/college in order to have things to talk about at interviews. It doesn't all have to be specific to the role you have applied to as long as it gives you skills you have or experiences you have had it is all still relevant
