Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

My current role involves providing governance to improvement projects, as well as reporting on project progress and KPIs to ensure effective progress against the plans.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I enjoy the programme, however there are many different frustrations that are experienced by both me and my peers. For example, when starting I signed a contract spanning 4 and a half years - the programme was never properly planned out and it has only surfaced within the last couple of weeks (while I am nearing the end of the scheme) that the apprenticeship is now due to be longer.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Over the course of the scheme I have learnt countless skills that have contributed towards both my employability and competence as a Project Manager. There is a large focus on skills development, especially in areas such as leadership, collaboration and communication which allow apprentices like myself to progress nicely throughout the scheme.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

As mentioned before the scheme has been drawn up as we are going along - which came about as the scheme changed on the year that I joined. I don't doubt that this is better structured for the cohorts that have followed me, however my personal experience is that they are making it up as they go along.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I receive a lot of support from my employer for and queries that I have, however sometimes they take a long time to come to a conclusion or do not come to a conclusion at all - which has led to various examples of confusion across the years.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I receive a fair amount of support, however the support channels are often unclear and communications taking a long time to come back.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

To an extent I feel like the training I receive helps me with my performance within my role. However, a lot of the uni learning is fairly vague and is rarely something I would ever see during working within my organisation.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

There are various socials that I am able to get involved in that allow me to further develop my network within the organisation and also with those from organisations around the enterprise of organisations that I am working within.

Would you recommend BAE Systems to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I would recommend it due to the various opportunities that are provided to you. There is a clear way that you can use to progress your career as long as you are switched on and driven enough to see it.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BAE Systems?
I would look to ensure you have clarity of the details of the scheme - especially which training provider is when you start so you arent hit with any surprises when they are in a different part of the country. There are lots of opportunities for the taking as long as you are committed enough to see them.
