Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
Complete varying placements across the business unit, all which can look a little different. Worked across System Design, Integration & Test, then Product Security. In Product Security this can involve talking to Suppliers, Lead Engineers, and Technical Authorities in order to assure a system against any Information Assurance requirements.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
The programme is overall going well, there is day release to College/University with the other days either in the office or working from home. Support from the Training Provider, but also the company is great.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
Not only do you build experience in Engineering there are opportunities to have placements in other functions such as Supply Chain and Project Management. Through the completion of Stretch assignments there are a number of soft skills that can be developed including leadership.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
Most years through the programme is day release at university/College and the rest working with your placement team.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
Every apprentice will have a Skills Coach that supports them through their programme including an Early Careers 'function lead'.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
As a apprentice and course rep at the Training Provider I can vouch for the great support received, or the addition of support if an issue is raised. All apprentices also have a Coach to support them through their apprenticeship programme.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
1/5
I feel this could be further developed. The technical report writing and project management skills greatly support the performance in our roles, but the engineering aspects could be improved.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
There is a social event every month that is organised by apprentices/graduates. You also have a number of stretch activities that can be signed up to (e.g. career fayres, STEM Events, Business Improvement Projects).
