Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

My day-to-day involves preparing financial statements for a variety of clients. It also includes iXBRL tagging for filing with Companies House.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I really enjoy my programme so far. After only 6 months I've learnt and developed many new skills. The balance between work, study and having time for my own personal commitments is great.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I've learnt a lot of new skills already. For example professional skills such as excel, interaction with clients etc. as well as learning a lot of specific accounting skills through both my role and the qualification process.

How well organised/structured is your programme?

The structure of the programme is really clear and well planned. The time allocated for study is adequate and the firm offers great opportunities that allow you to fit in work, study and personal life in a way that suits you. The firm also has a variety of support networks to help with any issues you have.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

We receive lots of support from our employer in terms of both professional work and regarding our qualification. There is a variety of support networks and the firm supplies us with a variety of things that allow us to excel both professionally and in the ACA course.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

The firm offer us plenty of study leave to help with our qualification and personally, my manager is very flexible with my exams etc. and trusts me to allocate my time wisely to fulfil all my responsibilities; this empowers me to really excel in both my exams and professionally.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

Absolutely- the exams cover topics that are useful every day at work. The progression in difficulty and complexity of the exams also reflects your development in the workplace and they often work hand in hand to make us more well equipped accountants.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

The firm structured our onboarding really well which allowed me to form a group of colleagues that I'm friends with- we often meet up outside of work etc. The firm also has sports-teams, volunteering opportunities, networking events and socials etc.

Why?
The opportunity to work with great clients and highly skilled, experienced professionals. The firm is extremely supportive regarding the ACA qualification and is truly a great place to work
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Forvis Mazars?
Embrace the work experience opportunities, insight days etc. I wasn't aware of such opportunities before I joined the firm but they are clearly great opportunities and improve your chances of being a successful applicant.
