Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

As a junior in the corporate tax team we are expected to onboard new clients to the firm through our onboarding process where we check for any ethical issues and issue engagement letters with our agreed scope with the client. On a day-to-day basis we also prepare tax computations for provision and finalised tax computations before submission to HMRC. This is the main area of our work and often involves a lot of client engagement regarding information relevant to the computations
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

Since September I have found Mazars and my team in Manchester to be extremely welcoming and helpful. Despite work being stressful and hard at times, sufficient support is always readily available from anyone who you work with. The exams for the ACA pathway are also difficult and require sufficient revision however the rewards are great.

Since Joining I have developed my knowledge of tax legislation greatly. I have have also developed my leadership and communication skills due to the relevant training courses Mazars offers. Mazars learning platform also has allowed me to develop my excel skills greatly which is highly useful within the role of tax reporting

How well organised/structured is your programme?

My programme is well structured despite my pathway being new this year. The Careers team at Mazars provide weekly updates surrounding exams and are always available to answer any questions I may have. They have provided documents that lay out the relevant dates for my programme so i can plan ahead and it doesn't clash with my work side of the job
How much support do you receive from your employer?

Mazars provides excellent support through its dedicated Early Careers team. This team ensures that any queries are answered quickly and clearly, while also keeping the entire intake updated on any changes to our pathway. Their approachable and proactive communication makes navigating the programme straightforward and reassuring.

How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

Both Mazars and the qualification provider BPP are available to support me when working towards my qualifications. BPP have question forums where tutors can respond to any queries around the qualification or areas i may be struggling within an exam

There are many social teams that the Manchester office are a part of including football and netball. We also have a huge Muslim network which is a great feature of Mazars as it allows an inclusive culture for all. There are many professional networking opportunities such as our partnership with Pro-Manchester who organise talks and meets for professionals.

In my First 6 months of the firm i have enjoyed both my job role and the qualification aspects. Mazars has a great inclusive culture and overall is a great place to develop and learn due to the support provided.

I would advise people applying to Mazars to understand the Job role and the qualification they are applying for as it can be a confusing process before joining the firm.
