Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

i assist with the long term support of the aircraft, solving issues from obsolescence to technical queries and change requests. i also get to communicate with our customers to find out how best to improve their operational efficiencies.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

the actual work aspect of the role is good. the apprenticeship entails doing several 6 month placements at different relevant areas (that you can choose) which is helpful to understand how all the teams interlink and keeps a fresh pace. However frequently there will be times of little work due to your junior skills and the Training Managers can be overbearing. that being said, it has opened up many opportunities in terms of travel and an amazing learning experience.

i have developed my skills in excel to maximise my efficiency in spreadsheets and my knowledge on helicopters has grown exponentially

How well organised/structured is your programme?

the scheme is relatively organised with the placement aspect of it in work but college can be chaotic with lecturers and students not knowing who's in today, if any lectures are cancelled etc
How much support do you receive from your employer?

i receive enough support to excel in my apprenticeship, the employer is usually good at helping in the common circumstances but any nuances which would require different support can be difficult to receive
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

the employer is supportive of our college qualifications, the NVQ aspect is more challenging, with very little information on how to complete it until 7 months into the year
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

the college aspect really has no help with my course, almost everything ive needed to know ive learnt from being inside the job. it serves as mediocre very basic fundamentals and that is about it.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

theyre are lots of committees and clubs to take part in whether you want to help local charities or learn a different language, the annual charity dinner is also an amazing evening. the opportunties for networking are absolutely endless its incredible.

Why?
the placments are really great to learn lots of different skills and network, they also keep things new and interesting. ive had the opportunity to travel and do/see lots of things i didnt think i would. the extra curricular activities are amazing with so much to get involved in and the employees in the placements are almost always really supportive and prioritise learning over general work.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Leonardo?
make sure you network as much possible, get involved in every single thing you can because it opens so many doors
