Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

Working as a HR associate alongside the HR employees on 6 months rotations. Every 6 months you change to a new business area with a new team to learn more about the business. HR queries and functions can all be learned on a daily basis.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have learned lots of new skills such as active listening, professional communication, organisation, time-keeping and communication

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

It is extremely well organised. You change job every 6 months, two weeks before you move you are told where you are going next so it allows you to meet the new team and do an appropriate handover before that occurs.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

You receive so much support for your employers. You have a placement manager who is your go to person on your placement and will be the one you stay with, shadow and be your point of contact. You also have a head of HR apprentices who is an independent individual who is always there for you to express any concerns. Finally, you are provided with a mentor who is somewhere in the business for you to always go to.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

It embeds all the knowledge into the day to day practices i see at work
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Yeha, we have a PEG team that plans employee events such as pub quizzes. There is a lot of stretch projects to get involved with such as extra teams and projects

Why?
It is a really interesting company doing something really important in todays world. The early careers community is extremely supportive and we all get along well. BAE is a place where you can really progress your career.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BAE Systems?
Be timely with your responses. When you are doing the assessment and the security process, answer promptly and be very communicative to make it better
